THE WORKSHOPS
A place of opportunities and possibilities
The workshops are mobile spaces that are being adapted continually to the needs of the children and teenagers participating in them.
Artistic, recreational and professional workshops
Histories workshop. Discussion groups. Drawing workshop. Muppets workshop. Educational workshop. Sexuality workshop. Origami workshop. Assembly.
All the children who attend our daily activities participate in these workshops, that are the first areas that those who come to our institution enter. Their main aim is the integration and experimentation of other rules and forms of relating than the ones that are experienced by youngsters who live in the street. Other objectives are the creation of confidence bonds and the learning of different knowledges.
We have also realized different experiences of artistic and cultural workshops, in which the children and youngsters who live in the street participated together with other people of the community. Among them, we can mention the tango workshop, the literary workshop and the origami workshop.
Professional trainings
Handcrafts workshop. Carpentry workshop. Silkscreen printing workshop.
C.H.I.C.O.S. Association gives a monthly scholarship of 50 $ to those who attend these workshops.
In these workshops, we work in smaller groups and their aim, besides learning a certain profession in a more formal way, is that the participants develop higher levels of commitment to the tasks and the learning process, in an atmosphere of comradeship and participating solidarity.
As a result of the same pedagogical process, numerous objects are produced in these workshops. They are commercialized in our Traditional Christmas Sale and fairs and also in different fair trade shops and diffusion events, providing thus other economic and experiential stimuli to the participants.
Other services that we offer are:
- Integral medical assistance: Accompaniment of the children and teenagers to different Hospitals and Medical Centers.
- Formal Education: A section of the Provincial School José Ingenieros Nro: 2510 operates inside the Day Center.
- Professional Assistance: By a technical team of psychologists, social workers and other specialists. They accompany the daily activities and visit also the families of the children, talking with them individually or in group, in the Day Center and in the street.
